The year in review....and the year ahead....
The new year has started. I can't believe 2009 went by so quickly. I guess because I was so busy I didn't hardly have time to enjoy it. I'm about to begin my final prerequisite class before I apply to UC Davis's PA program and the SRJC Nursing program. Tomorrow I begin Physiology 1; a 5 unit lecture and lab class Monday 5-7 and Wednesday 5-10 (this night has the lab). Of course every evening will be homework and more homework. I'll be glad to be done with this semester (just 16 weeks to go).
I'm still working as well for Sebastopol Orthopaedics as the surgery coordinator/advisor/counselor. This keeps me pretty busy Monday through Thursday and on the occasional Friday. Our office has two doctors (Bragonier and Bollinger) and they keep me hopping.
My other passion and passtime is working out in the mornings before work. I LOVE the airport club of which I've been a member now for the past 5 years. I enjoy being strong and getting a good muscle/cardio workout to keep myself healthy.
Colin started his first year of Kindergarten at Village Charter School. He's in Miss Malika's class with 16 other kids. It's a mixed class K-1 grades. He's enjoyed the transition and has made many many new friends. His class takes many fieldtrips to the theatre and local farms for enrichment. His favorite thing in school is lunchtime and recess. BIG surprise there. As always he's a social butterfly, but his teacher says he is very good with his studies as well. On his first report card, he got mostly (M) which means "mastered" and only one (E) which means "emerging" for writing his numbers. There was nothing that he wasn't able to do well. We're so proud of our little man.
He of course keeps us busy with all his activities, biking, scootering, roller and ice skating, rock climbing, swimming, airplaine making, playdates, etc. He's in bed by 7PM and up by 6AM and is non-stop all day long until he crashes. He's really into Star Wars now and has enjoyed learning about all the characters through the library books. He's also starting piano next Saturday.
Alex is still at ZAP. They have a new car, the Alias and I think it is coming to market sometime this year. He's still playing music with Blue's Cycle on a weekly basis and this is his release from the daily grind.
We took a few trips this past year to our annual Feather River in June and to Monterey over the Christmas holiday. I took a solo trip to NYC for Kitty's graduation and Alex took a solo trip to Mexico with his buddy Luis. We always love to go, and we always love to return. Though I wouldn't be opposed to spending a week at a spa.
We've had two monumental losses this year. Grandma Donna passed away near the end of this year. She will be missed, especially because of her annual Christmas Eve party which brought most of the family together for the holidays. Our friend Martin Linley died of a massive heart attack while diving on his 4th wedding anniversary with his beloved Beth. We will miss Martin's great spark and love for life. He was the coach for the Analy boys JV soccer team and had previously coached the Varsity team in prior years. Rest in peace Grandma and Martin.
Now to all of you (the 5 people reading this blog), may you have a fantabulous 2010!
Love, Naomi
