Today we embarked on an outing to Twin Palms Ranch - owned by our very own Louis and Karen McKenzie. The ranch is located off Wright Road in Santa Rosa. I believe it's approximately 5 acres of lush green grass. The McKenzie's own, not one, not two, but five llamas (Obama LLama, Drako, Comet, Dalai Lllama and the newest baby llama -unnamed - born nearly two weeks ago), one goat (BeeGee) and two geese (names unknown).
Very exciting on the agenda at TPR consisted of uncle Lou getting the slash heap ready by piling up palm fronds and scrap wood, which he then lit with fantastic precision. The flames were magnificent and we all were wanting to roast marshmallows. Meanwhile, Karen was getting seeds ready for planting in their ultra-mini green house. We can't wait to see how the garden comes to life after the spring rains have died out.
The most exciting thing for Colin was tromping around in the mud, swatting weeds with a stick and catching and playing with several of the tiniest frogs I've ever seen. They didn't at all seem dismayed to be held in a little boys hands. Of course he was most careful when handling them. This picture is of some of the frogs he gathered. He could have played there for hours and hours more...what joy for our little man. Thank you to uncle Lou and auntie Karen for the ultimate play date.
