A New Chapter

Last week I began a new chapter in my life. After 4 plus years of "not working" and just "being a mother"....[Cue for mothers to LMAO = laugh my ass off...cuz we all know MOTHERHOOD and it's related duties (the housekeeping, etc.) is the most demanding, time consuming, unappreciated "job" in the world. Unappreciated by whom we won't dare to mention]....

...I have started a new job. I'm now working for an Orthopaedic office in Sebastopol. Thanks to our wonderful cousin Karen, who wrangled an internship for me. After 6 weeks of interning, I was hired by the office. I'm really excited to be a part of such a dynamic team. The doctor I am assisting is a general and pediatric orthopaedic surgeon. The position is partly front office (paperwork) and partly back office (rooming patients, taking histories, minor medical procedures, etc.) and it's part-time which I like because I can still fit in family and school time.

Colin is now going to school more because of this shift in my duties; something he has been begging me to do, because the afternoon is filled with even more fun than t he morning...so he says.


Alex is definitely happy, because unlike "being a mother" this brings in some income. Which also makes me happy!!!

Mommy & Daddy Time:

Last night we went to an soul food dinner party put on by one of Alex's co-workers. Actually she won an auction and the prize was a soul dinner for 8 people including a blues band. It was really relaxing for us to get out and back at the ranch, Dad and Barbara were having some fun of their own with master Colin.

Small world...at the party, the person cooking was my former junior high school principle and her grand-daughter. Miss Ellis has long since retired, but she remains a strong force in the educational community and I was able to pick her brain about possible schools for Colin for K-8. What an amazing lady she is.

Vacation:

The most exciting news for me is our annual trip to Graeagle (Feather River). This will be my 10th year to Graeagle and it gets better every year. Colin and Alex too cannot wait for this adventure. I've already started to pack and this week I'm sure will fly by as I try to cram 3 weeks of Psychology class into 1 week so that I don't have to do any studying on my vacation...or very little.

School:

I've started an online summer course, Psychology. I just completed my first online quiz, missing just one question. I have 6 more quizzes to complete, 3 more chapters to read and 1 more paper to finish before I leave on vacation. I'd better get off this blog and get busy!
